Redpoint Wins Big at 2012 HSMAI Adrian Awards
Little ol' Redpoint made a great BIG splash at the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International's Adrian Awards Gala on January 29, 2012. With nine awards for 2012 campaigns and PR results, including five Golds, two Silvers, and one Bronze – plus a coveted Platinum Award, which is an honor given each year to a special few "best of the best" entries – Redpoint's sweeping win was among the highest received for the evening. Many thanks go to clients US Tour Operators Association, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Times Square, Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Kennebunkport Resort Collection/Tides Beach Club, and Simon Pearce for their collaboration in producing this award-winning work! Owners Vickie and Chris were thrilled to go up on stage and accept the Platinum Award for the Relaunch of the Simon Pearce Mill at Quechee in the Wake of Hurricane Irene. Read the case study here.
Some New Friends in New England
You know how we feel about Vermont…well, we're delighted to welcome the Essex Resort and Spa to the Redpoint family! This place takes its culinary offerings seriously, from the pastry case of fresh-baked goodies next to the front desk to the two – count 'em two – teaching kitchens. Amazing cooking classes, hot air balloon rides, world-class tennis, gorgeous and pampering spa, Essex Resort and Spa really ups the ante for locavores with its own chicken coop, honey bees, herb and vegetable gardens. And, their own farmer!
A little closer to our Soho home is the Water's Edge Resort & Spa in Westbrook, CT, with a private beach and singularly stunning new two-bedroom villas we'll be launching this year. The sweeping green lawn and bright blue water of the Sound is a perfect backdrop for the classic white shingle architecture of the resort. We can't wait to dig our toes in the sand and lap up the summer sun. (Did we mention the private beach?)
Calling All Romantics…
We'll be raising the roof on romance for the Outrigger on the Lagoon, Fiji, one of Hawaiian-based Outrigger Hotels and Resorts much-lauded resorts. A true tropical paradise, Outrigger Fiji is renowned for honeymooners, destination weddings and more and it will be our pleasure to spread the word about this exotic destination and stunning resort.
Redpoint Spending This Summer at the Shore
Fist bumps everyone…Morey's Piers and Beachfront Waterparks in Wildwood, NJ, will start its 2013 season around Easter, and as their new agency of record, Redpoint's team will be there to "test" the newest rides and attractions when they open. With three amusement piers and two beachfront water parks spanning across 18 acres of amazing Jersey Shore beaches, Morey's is a classic summertime destination. Breakfast in the Sky (on the ferries wheel!), Riptide, Ghost Ship, the Great White Coaster, Joe's Fish Co., Curley Fries…doesn't get much better than this for summer fun.
Redpoint Goes Batty at 2012 Fall Tabletop Market
Fun! We're launching some cool new collections this week in flatware and dinnerware for client Robinson Home Products and its licensed brands Oneida® and echodesign™. Among our favorites is the new Oneida® "Spooky Treats" collection, which features adorable pieces like this 3D "Bat Candy Plate." We'll eat candy off just about anything…but it's so much more satisfying to eat it off of plates this groovy. And we're hoping that the 20+ journalists who are doing private walk-throughs with us to see the new collections will agree!
Redpoint's Travel Division Welcomes Vermont Tourism!
The Vermont Department of Tourism Marketing is tapping Redpoint for PR support beginning this fall, and we couldn't be more excited. Who wouldn't love to promote gorgeous fall foliage, apple and pumpkin picking, haunted getaways, autumn harvest festivals, and more? And with so many friends in the tourism industry scattered throughout the state from Brattleboro to Burlington, we're delighted to share Vermont's news with the world…it feels like promoting family!
Redpoint Speaks! Upcoming Workshops in New England Just Announced…
Chris will be up in New England quite a bit this fall, sharing Redpoint's expertise with our hospitality friends throughout the region. On September 11-13, you can catch her in Woodstock, VT hosting regional workshops on Facebook Marketing for Brands. Then from October 28-30, she'll be in Meredith, NH speaking at the New England Inns & Resorts Association 2012 Annual Conference, helping hoteliers learn how to Stop Social Media from Overwhelming You. And right after that, it's a quick journey up to Burlington, VT to keynote at the annual conference of the Vermont Convention Bureau. Ssshhh. That topic is still a surprise. Want Chris to come speak to your group? Check out www.redpointspeaks.com for more information.
Redpoint Helps Ripley's Times Square Go to the Dogs
How could we not love working for Ripley's Believe It or Not Times Square? In celebration of National Dog Day on August 26, 2012, we helped the Odditorium open its doors to canines for the first time ever, welcoming more than 50 dogs and owners to the museum for free. Dogs and their families were greeted by Ripley's guest sideshow performer, "Beefy," the Upper West Side skateboarding bulldog, as he rolled through the museum showcasing his best tricks and unbelievable boarding skills. Spoil Me Rotten Dog Biscuit Co. supplied doggy ice cream and all-natural biscuits in flavors like carrot cake and "oh so cheesy" for visiting dogs. Water bowls were also stationed throughout the museum to help dogs recharge. Skateboarding dogs and people showing up with carts full of Chihuahuas? Oh yeah…media coverage was intense!
Redpoint & Robinson Home Products: A Recipe for Success
We're cooking up some cool PR and hot jazz for client Robinson Home Products, to herald their arrival back at the International Home + Housewares Show in March of 2012 after a two-year hiatus. With a booth that's half the length of a football field, Robinson is going to own the show in style this year. Planning to be there? Come visit Robinson's Marketplace of Shops at Booth S1062, which features individual boutiques for all of Robinson's owned and licensed brands, including its newest kitchenware brand launches – Squish collapsibles, Moso bambooware, and Zing! kitchen tools and gadgets – and its extensive array of new tabletop introductions for Oneida and fashion leader echodesign.
Get the Champagne Bottle Ready
Redpoint is delighted to be helping client Oceania Cruises launch the m/s Riviera this May in the Mediterranean. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates…exciting photos to come!
Simon Pearce Raises Nearly 100K for Vermont Flood Relief
Redpoint is so proud of client Simon Pearce. Even while rebuilding their own flagship facility in Quechee, VT (which was severely damaged in the wake of Hurricane Irene), the brand committed to helping raise funds to help others in the community as well. Through sales of a commemorative tealight this past fall, Simon Pearce raised nearly $100,000 for the American Red Cross of Vermont and the New Hampshire Valley. We were honored to be a part of the team that helped promote the tealight, and take great pride in representing such a community-minded brand. Way to go, Simon Pearce!
Nova Scotia is getting a taste of Redpoint the week of October 31!
Chris arrives in this gorgeous Atlantic Canadian province to lead a series of Marketing Boot Camps for hospitality industry professionals. Workshops will focus on budget decision-making, tourism packaging, and social media, and Chris will be traveling around the province – from the South Shore to Cape Breton Island – and doing some consulting in between boot camps. Many thanks to Nova Scotia Tourism for asking Redpoint to come share our expertise with its community!
Smugglers' Notch Resort Loves Redpoint!
After seeing Redpoint's keynote address at the Vermont Travel Industry Conference this year, Smugglers' Notch Resort asked us to kick off their Summer Employee Rally with a groovy presentation on customer service. We sent our owner Chris Miranda up to Smuggs to have a little fun training their 500 employees. Lots of laughs and learnings…and Chris reports that the venison sliders at the resort's restaurant are simply to die for!
Redpoint Keynotes at Vermont Travel Industry Conference 2011
If you were at the Vermont Travel Industry Conference on April 12th and 13th this year, then you probably know Redpoint's Chris Miranda as "The Donut Lady." During her keynote address, Lighten Up! Where Did All the Fun Go in the Hospitality Industry?, Chris hand delivered a box of a dozen doughnuts to each table in the room…after Redpoint got the famed Donut Pub in NYC to create and box up 30 dozen Redpoint-branded doughnuts. The surprise delivery – kept under wraps on a bellman's cart until the end of the address – deliciously underscored the presentation's message that you don't have to spend buckets of money to have fun and make an impression. Her writing workshop the next day, Actionable Writing That Gets Results, started in an unusual way as well. Click here to see how. Oh yeah…those people in Vermont aren't forgetting Chris anytime soon!
Redpoint welcomes Simon Pearce to our home furnishings and interior design PR division!
Have you seen their stunning hand blown glass and handmade pottery? Every single product is crafted by hand, so it's incredible that what started as a small glassblowing workshop in Kilkenny, Ireland, has grown today into an "empire" with eight Simon Pearce dedicated retail stores and a network of more than 500 signature stores throughout the US. Travel & Leisure recently named the Simon Pearce Restaurant in Quechee, VT "One of the Most Romantic Restaurants in America." We love having Simon Pearce in the Redpoint family! Check them out at www.simonpearce.com.
Redpoint's Third Annual Marketing Boot Camp Gets Hospitality Executives Pumped Up!
Redpoint's Annual Marketing Boot Camp 2011 was well received by attendees in its two New England locations this year. Limited to 50 participants – and maxed out at that level! – this year's workshops included Your Social Media Voice…Is Anyone Listening?, Tourism PR Today…Is an Obscure Blog Better Than the New York Times?, and Wooing a High Profile Brand Partner. Some of our favorite post boot camp survey comments: "This Boot Camp delivers concepts and information that inspires action and positive change," "Listening to Redpoint's real experiences felt like being let in on a secret…very valuable indeed," "I am no longer afraid of social media," and "Chris rocks! Smart, comical, professional, approachable." Special thanks to the Woodstock Inn & Resort in VT and the Coastal House in ME for being such gracious and enjoyable hosts! Redpoint Tapped as New England Specialists to Educate Canadian Tourism Executives
Oh Canada! Redpoint was recently asked to orchestrate and host a "Best Practices Mission" throughout New England for 18 tourism and hospitality executives from the Atlantic Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland & Labrador. Redpoint escorted the group on a five-night tour of 10 leading resorts and hotels in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. We crafted an itinerary that was rich with coveted guest speakers, engaging educational sessions, and fun surprises (who doesn't love to eat ice cream at Ben & Jerry's HQ before lunch?) along the way. We adore our new Canadian friends, and extend a warm thanks to the folks at Tourism Atlantic, a division of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, for entrusting us with the responsibility for this mission!

Redpoint's WellRedKids Gives Away 500 Books at Summer Book Fair 2009
Once again, Redpoint's own charitable program, wellredkids, has inspired a passion for reading among hundreds of at-risk kids from age six to 17. More than 150 kids attended our Free Book Fair on June 6th at Heckscher State Park on Long Island to select three free books each from among hundreds of titles, including some of today's most popular books. The Twilight series reigned supreme among teens and young adults, with dictionaries and career advice books coming in close behind. Among the younger set, Amelia Bedelia still draws laughs, and a frenzy ensued when word got around that we had a whole bunch of original hardcovers from the Nancy Drew series (who doesn't love The Clue in the Crumbling Wall?). Young boys this year were quite sports-minded, and the youth book series by famed sportswriter Mike Lupica flew off the tables. In all, more than 500 books were given out to kids, packaged in gift bags filled with candy, coloring books, crayons, and other goodies. Check out the latest photos in our wellredkids photo gallery here.
